How to play Breakout
Play Breakout online for free. Control the paddle, smash neon bricks, collect power-ups, and progress through increasingly challenging levels.
Objective, rules, and result
Bounce the ball from the paddle into every brick. Destroyed bricks add score and some release temporary boosts. Missing the ball costs a life; clearing the pattern advances the level.
How to play
- Move the paddle with your mouse, touch, arrow keys, or A and D.
- Keep the ball in play and bounce it into every brick.
- Catch falling wide-paddle and slow-ball boosts to help clear each level.
Controls
Keyboard and mouse: Move with mouse, Arrow keys, or A/D.
Touch: Drag horizontally to move the paddle.
Shortcuts: Space: launch; P: pause.
Strategies to try
- Aim for a side channel so the ball can travel behind the brick wall and score repeated hits.
- Catch a boost only when moving for it will not leave the returning ball undefended.
Device and accessibility notes
Move by mouse, drag, Arrow keys, or A/D; Space launches and P pauses. The game requires continuous tracking of a moving ball, but audio is not necessary.
Use the Settings control above the game to turn sound or vibration off and to reduce interface motion. Expand mode can provide a larger play area. Records are stored only in this browser when storage is available.
